Help topics
What does Statlas cost?
Nothing. Statlas is free, every feature is available to every user, there is no subscription, and there are no in-app purchases. If an app claiming to be Statlas asks you to pay, it isn’t us.
Which devices does Statlas run on?
iPhone, on iOS 18 or later. There is no iPad app and no Android app.
How do I get my past trips into Statlas?
Four routes, roughly in the order people find easiest. Forward old booking confirmations to Statlas and it reads the flight, hotel, rail, ferry, cruise or car rental out of them. Connect your calendar so flights already in it get picked up. Import a Google Timeline export from Google Takeout, which backfills the places you actually went. Add anything older than all of that by hand.
Can Statlas import my Google Maps Timeline?
Yes, from an export. Request your Timeline location history through Google Takeout, then hand Statlas the file from Settings → Automatic Import → Google Timeline. Statlas walks you through the Takeout request, then reads the export and adds the places it can identify.
This is separate from your Google Maps saved places, which are a different Takeout export and land in your wishlist rather than your visit history.
Why isn’t a country showing as visited?
Usually one of four things. Location access is off, or set to “While Using” in the Settings app, so nothing was recorded while you were there. Your visits are set to review before syncing and this one is still waiting for you to confirm it. You were in the country only in transit and never left the airport. Or your chosen counting standard groups that territory into another country.
How does Statlas use my location?
Background location is how the coverage map and the time-lapse are built, so it’s a real permission doing real work. Whether Statlas can see your location at all is controlled by iOS, in the Settings app under Statlas — not inside Statlas.
Inside the app you choose what happens to a detected visit: sync it as it happens, or hold it on your phone until you confirm it. You can also turn on Power Saver, stop overnight-stay suggestions, and hide suggestions in areas you’ve marked as your own.
How many countries does Statlas say there are?
Whichever your chosen standard says. In Settings you pick UN member and observer states or all countries and territories, and every total in the app is derived from that choice rather than from a fixed number we’ve written down.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Statlas can produce an export of your travel data from inside the app. Do this before deleting your account, because deletion is not reversible. If you need something the in-app export doesn’t cover, email [email protected] and ask.
How do I delete my account?
From inside Statlas: Settings → Delete Account. Full detail, including what to do if you’ve already removed the app from your phone, is on Delete your Statlas account.
How do I report a profile or block someone?
Open the profile and use the Report or Block control there. Blocking stops that person seeing or interacting with your content. If something is urgent, or you want to report something you can’t reach a control on, email [email protected] with “Report” in the subject and we’ll act on it.
Live flight status isn’t updating.
Live flight status needs the flight to be matched to a real scheduled flight, and it updates from shortly before departure until after arrival. Outside that window, and for flights we can’t match, the trip still records the flight but won’t show live status. If a flight you’re on should be matching and isn’t, email us the airline, flight number and date.
Privacy and your data. What Statlas collects, and who processes it, is set out in the privacy policy. The terms that govern using Statlas, including what is and isn’t acceptable in shared content, are in the terms of service.
